Notorious Villains in Norse Legends

Norse mythology is filled with powerful gods, but it also features villains whose actions shaped the fate of the world. Loki, the trickster god, is perhaps the most well-known villain in Norse myths, often causing chaos among the gods with his deceptions. Another infamous villain is the giantess Angrboda, who is the mother of the monstrous wolf Fenrir, the serpent JΓΆrmungandr, and the undead Hel.

Other notable villains include the giant Surtur, who is prophesied to bring about Ragnarok, and the dragon Fafnir, whose greed transformed him into a monstrous creature guarding a hoard of gold. These villains represent themes of chaos, betrayal, and destruction, and they play key roles in shaping the cosmic struggle in Norse mythology.
